I’m Kathy Crain, a college counselor, mom to four boys (and one labradoodle). When I'm not working, I'm usually at my kids' hockey or baseball games, reading, or saving Instagram posts of recipes that I'll probably never make.
I earned my bachelors degree from Brown University in 1993, double majoring in Political Science and Urban Studies. From Brown I went on to receive my law degree from Boston University School of Law and spent time working in Boston, New York and Washington DC law firms. After having my four boys (now 22, 20, 18 and 18), I became very interested in education and received my Masters of Education in School Counseling from Providence College. I've worked in both public and private high schools and have successfully guided hundreds of students (including my own) through this process.
As a mom and a school counselor, I understand just how emotional, exciting, stressful and sometimes overwhelming this journey can be. My philosophy centers around the idea that college planning is more than test scores, GPA and deadlines. It's a deeply personal journey. My services are holistic in nature, designed to support the whole student, recognizing that academic achievement, emotional well-being, personal value, family dynamics and long term goals are intrinsically connected. I believe college counseling should foster growth, resilience, and self-understanding—not just acceptance letters. By honoring each student’s unique story, I guide them toward colleges and pathways that support both academic success and personal fulfillment.
I truly love working with teenagers and consider it an honor to help them through this important time in their lives.
